Rainfall Alert: IMD issues alert of torrential rains in these states due to cyclonic storm, Know the weather condition

Cyclone Forecast: There is a possibility of a cyclonic storm forming in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, a warning of torrential rain has been issued in some states of South India. This storm will be named Fengal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), an upper air cyclonic circulation has been observed over the equatorial Indian Ocean near the Sumatra coast and the adjoining South Andaman Sea. This system may turn into a low pressure area by November 23, after which it is likely to intensify further. There may be torrential rains in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh etc. in the coming days.

The system is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction. It may have a significant impact on Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, leading to heavy rains and rough sea conditions. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert on November 26, warning of very heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. During this period, rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm is expected.

If this low pressure area turns into a cyclonic storm, it will be named Fengal. This name will be given by Saudi Arabia. Some time ago, Cyclone Dana also came, which caused terrible devastation. Fengal is going to be the second cyclone of this season. Meteorologists are still studying its exact path, but it is believed that it can cross the coast of Chennai.

According to the Meteorological Department, ”An upper air cyclonic circulation has formed over the lower tropospheric level of the equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining South Andaman Sea off the Sumatra coast today, November 21, 2024 at 0830 hrs IST. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 23. Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal during the next two days.

Heavy rain warning in these states

Many states of South India are receiving heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Department has informed that heavy rains are likely in Tamil Nadu on November 21, 25-27, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam on November 26 and 27, Kerala and Mahe on November 21, 26 and 27, Rayalaseema on November 26 and 27.
