Rainfall Alert: There will be heavier than average rainfall this year, IMD released the possibility

IMD Monsoon Update: Every year in June, monsoon starts from Kerala in India. Monsoon completely disappears from the country by the end of September. It takes about a month for monsoon rains to reach North India.

New Delhi. At present, North and Central India is in the grip of extreme heat. The situation is such that reports of deaths due to heat wave have also started emerging. Meanwhile, a good news has been given to the people by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). It was told that this year there is a possibility of more than average monsoon in the country. IMD said, “If understood from a statistical perspective, the seasonal rainfall due to southwest monsoon over the entire country is likely to be 106% of the long period average (LPA) with a model error of ± 4 percent.”

The Meteorological Department said, “There is a possibility of more rainfall than normal in the country’s monsoon season, which runs from June to September this year.” IMD said that monsoon will be above normal in central and southern parts of India. Rainfall in the North-East part of India will be less than normal. Also, less than normal rainfall is expected in North-West India. It was told that monsoon may start in Kerala in the next 5 days. The circumstances are absolutely favorable regarding this.

Rain decreased last year

Last year, India received a total of 94 percent rainfall during the monsoon season. More than 70 percent of the total rainfall in India is received during the southwest monsoon period. The pace of south-west monsoon in India becomes clear with the onset of monsoon in Kerala. This is an important indicator showing the transition from hot and dry season to rainy season.

The heat will be more troublesome in June!

IMD has made it clear that the temperature in June is likely to be above normal. The IMD has predicted a higher number of heatwave days over northwest India and adjoining parts of the central region in June. IMD has said, “During June 2023, most areas of northwest India and neighboring areas of north central India are likely to experience above normal hotter days.”
