Many parts of Jammu and Kashmir received snowfall again on Friday. At the same time, a slight increase in the minimum temperature was recorded at most places in the valley. Officials said that the first snowfall of the season occurred in the plains of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts.
Weather Update: The mood of the weather has changed due to the new western disturbance. There is a possibility of hailstorm along with light to moderate rain in North-West India including Central India on Saturday. According to IMD, no change in minimum temperature is expected during the next 48 hours. After this, there may be a drop of two to four degrees Celsius in North-West, West, Central and East India during the next three days. The Meteorological Department has also predicted cold wave in some parts of Himachal Pradesh from 29 to 31 December.
The IMD said that till December 30, dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail over isolated places over Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during late night and early morning hours.
70 roads closed due to snowfall in Himachal
The weather changed again in Kullu and Lahaul valley. Snowfall started in high peaks including Rohtang, Kunjam Pass from Friday morning itself. The district administration has issued an alert and instructed tourists not to go towards Rohtang Tunnel and Jalori Pass. Due to snowfall in the past few days, 70 roads including two national highways are still blocked.
Severe cold in Rajasthan
Severe cold is prevailing in most areas of Rajasthan and due to the effect of western disturbance, moderate rain occurred at many places on Friday. Dense fog prevailed in many areas on Friday as well. Many areas have been in the grip of severe cold for many days. The lowest minimum temperature in the last 24 hours was recorded at 5.4 degrees Celsius in Churu.
