According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon is progressing from the Arabian Sea and has covered most parts of Maharashtra. While on the part towards the Bay of Bengal, the monsoon had covered the Northeast before time, but since then it is active in the Northeast only and has not been able to move forward. The result is that the monsoon has not been able to knock in Odisha, Jharkhand, most parts of West Bengal, Bihar etc. Now the arrival of monsoon is also getting delayed in these states.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of monsoon becoming active in the next four-five days. Monsoon may become active in some parts of West Bengal and Bihar. The department has not said anything about when the monsoon will knock in Uttar Pradesh. The normal date of arrival of monsoon in Varanasi is 20 June. But this time there is a possibility of delay in it. The Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of heat wave continuing in North India. The department said that the current phase of heat wave may continue for the next 4-5 days. The department said that a trend of increase in day as well as night temperatures has been observed in the northwestern states, which may continue for the next few days.

Intense heat wave and scorching heat will prevail in UP for the next two days

With the recent commotion in the Bay of Bengal, there are chances of the monsoon arriving in Uttar Pradesh on time. But before that, on 15 and 16 June, the outbreak of intense heat wave and scorching heat is expected to continue in most places in the state and the nights are also expected to remain hot. According to the Indian Meteorological Center, the Bay of Bengal branch of the South-West monsoon can reach West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar in the next four to five days. After this, the monsoon will enter Uttar Pradesh from Gorakhpur or Varanasi via Bihar. It is also expected that the pre-monsoon rains will start in the state from 19-20 June.

On Friday, the entire Uttar Pradesh remained hot. The day temperature was recorded between 44-45 degree Celsius in most areas of the state. The hottest places in the state were Prayagraj and Kanpur, where the day temperature was recorded at 46.9 and 46.7 degree Celsius respectively.

Monsoon will knock in Bihar on 17-18 June

According to the Meteorological Department, conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar during the next 3-4 days.

Temperature crosses 40 in 20 districts of Jharkhand

The heat of summer in Jharkhand is not stopping. On Friday also, the temperature remained above 40 degrees in 20 districts of Jharkhand. According to the Meteorological Department, an orange alert of heat wave has been issued in Palamu, Garhwa and surrounding areas during the next 24 hours and a yellow alert of heat wave in the remaining parts of the state. While there is a possibility of change in weather during the scorching heat in some parts of the state including the districts of Santhal Pargana. There was severe heat in Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Garhwa, and other districts on Friday as well. The temperature of Palamu was 45.2 degrees. The temperature of Ranchi was recorded at 40 degrees Celsius. Here, during the scorching heat, five people died due to heat stroke in the last 24 hours. Among them, one died in Vishnupura of Garhwa, one in Chauparan of Hazaribagh, one in Gumla, a retired Amin in Rehala of Palamu and one person in Ghatshila.

Rain in most parts of Mumbai, relief from heat

After two days, most parts of Mumbai once again received rain on Friday, giving relief to people from the heat and humidity. A municipal corporation official said that the rain started with thunder, but there is no news of major waterlogging anywhere in the city. The official said that public transport services of railways and Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) bus are largely normal, although some delays in services have been reported from some places. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain with cloudy weather in the city and suburbs in the next 24 hours. Monsoon arrived in Mumbai on June 9, two days before its normal date of June 11, yet there has been no rain in the metropolis in the last two days, causing humid weather there.

Monsoon will reach North Bengal in the next four to five days

The southwest monsoon is likely to reach North Bengal and parts of the Ganges in the next four to five days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue at one or two places in the northern districts of the state. Some areas are facing disruption due to heavy rains, while some districts of South Bengal are likely to experience heatwave and severe heatwave conditions for the next few days. The Meteorological Department has also warned of landslides in the hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts.

Alert issued in Bengal after heavy rains in Sikkim

The Jalpaiguri district administration is requesting the people living near the Teesta to go to higher places. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the river.

Drop in maximum temperature in Rajasthan

In most parts of Rajasthan, the maximum temperature on Friday has dropped by one to two degrees Celsius as compared to yesterday, giving slight relief to the people of the state from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, Sri Ganganagar was the hottest place in the state on Friday with 45.2 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in Sangaria was 44.4 degrees, Pilani 43.9 degrees Celsius, Churu-Alwar 43.8 degrees, Dholpur 43.4 degrees, Karauli 43.3 degrees, Bikaner 42.8 degrees, Vanasthali 42.2 degrees, Kota 42.1 degrees, Chittorgarh 42 degrees Celsius. Jaipur Meteorological Center in-charge Radheshyam Sharma said that due to storm and rain activities in many parts of the state, the maximum temperature has dropped.

Severe heat continues in Punjab, Haryana

Severe heat continues in Haryana and Punjab. Meanwhile, the temperature in Abohar was 47.6 degrees Celsius on Friday. According to the Meteorological Department, severe heat continued in the capital Chandigarh as well, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44 degrees Celsius. There was also severe heat in Gurdaspur, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45.5 degrees Celsius. Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded temperatures of 44.8 degrees Celsius and 44.2 degrees Celsius respectively. In neighbouring Haryana, Faridabad and Nuh recorded a maximum temperature of 45.8 degrees Celsius. Hisar recorded a temperature of 44.6 degrees Celsius.
