Rainfall alert: The melting cold has been going on for the last few days. The first major round of snowfall has started in the hilly states of the country. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of moderate to heavy rain in the plains of North India for the next seven days. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its latest forecast that an orange alert has been issued for rain in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi on Wednesday along with heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department said that due to three western disturbances, there may be heavy rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad from January 31 to February 3, 2024.

Weather patterns will change

The weather is going to change due to some western disturbances being active in North India. According to the information coming from Shimla, Delhi and Chandigarh centers of the Meteorological Department, the rainy season may continue in a large part of North India from January 31 to February 5. However, during this period there will be fog in the morning and night. Similarly, different colors of weather will be seen for the next one week. Due to cloud cover due to western disturbance, day temperature will increase while night temperature will drop slightly. The chill will increase during the day.

First round of rain in the new year, when will we get relief from cold?

This year there will be the first round of rain in North India. So far in the winter season, it has rained only one day in December. Meteorological Department official Mrityunjay Mohapatra said, at the beginning of the year and for the first time in this cold season, heavy snowfall is expected in a very large area.

It has been said in the IMD update that since the end of December, there has been dense fog in North India, which will continue to trouble us for a few days. However, there will be no significant respite from fog in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi in the next 72 hours. Strong northerly winds are expected from February 5 onwards, which can reduce the incidence of fog while reducing the night temperature.

Rain in these areas

The minimum temperature is expected to increase by two to four degrees Celsius in many parts of northwest and central India during the next few days. Whereas in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, strong winds along with showers and lightning have been predicted. Light to moderate rain may occur in Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and UP.
