Rainfall Update: After heavy rain in Dubai, schools closed and people advised to work from home

Chance of rain and storm till May 3

According to local media reports, about 4 o’clock after about an hour of rain, the country’s meteorological department issued an alert, saying that rain clouds have covered most parts of the country. Adverse weather conditions are expected to persist in the country till May 3.

Due to which security advisories have been issued in all areas. Schools in the country are on distance learning, while public sector companies have been urged to allow employees to work from home. Parks and beaches have been closed. At the same time, airports and airlines are also prepared for this impact.

According to Khaleej Times, waterlogging on roads was reported in some areas of Abu Dhabi on Thursday, while strong winds lashed Jebel Ali, Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai Industrial City, Dubai Investments Park and Jumeirah Village Triangle.

On Wednesday, the country’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Response Authority (NCEMA) had intensified preparations to deal with the situation. Although these rains are expected to be less severe than the unprecedented rainfall last month, people have still been urged to take precautions. Schools have been closed after the rain and people have been advised to work from home.

Orange alert issued due to heavy rain and storm

According to Khaleej Times, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert due to heavy rain and storm in UAE. At the same time, according to the Meteorological Center, heavy rains started in the country from midnight and lightning also fell at many places. The Meteorological Department said that there could be potentially heavy rain in the southern and eastern regions on Friday and Saturday.

There was heavy rain in Dubai after 1949

Earlier on 14-15 April, areas of the Arabian Peninsula were badly affected due to heavy rains. During this period, Dubai received the highest rainfall since 1949. Dubai’s Emirates Airline announced the cancellation of several flights on Thursday due to bad weather in the United Arab Emirates.
