Delhi Weather News: The havoc of fog and biting cold in Delhi continues on Saturday (January 11) like the last few days. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi. The warning issued by the IMD said that people need to be cautious in view of the possibility of rain.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in Delhi on Saturday and Sunday. On Wednesday too, Delhi will remain cloudy and light rain is expected. Dense fog is also likely to prevail in some areas in the morning.

Cold will shiver more in the coming days

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are expected to be around 15 and 8 degrees Celsius respectively on Saturday. Fog will prevail in the morning till January 16. In the coming days, the effect of biting cold can be seen along with the drop in temperature.

Air and train services affected

Visibility was zero in Delhi on Friday (January 10) morning due to dense fog. Air and rail operations were affected due to dense fog. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain over the weekend. Officials said that more than 100 flights have been affected at Indira Gandhi International Airport. 26 trains are running late from their scheduled time.

The Meteorological Department said that as per Indian time, visibility was zero in Palam for a long time from 4.30 am on Friday. According to the Meteorological Department, visibility was up to 50 meters in Safdarjung due to dense fog from 5.30 am. The maximum temperature in Delhi on Friday was recorded at 17.6 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. While the minimum temperature was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius, 0.9 degrees below normal.

Difficult to breathe due to pollution

The air quality in Delhi was recorded in the severe category on Friday. According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 397 at 4 pm, which falls in the severe category. AQI is considered ‘good’ between zero to 50, ‘satisfactory’ between 51 to 100, ‘moderate’ between 101 to 200, ‘bad’ between 201 to 300, ‘very bad’ between 301 to 400 and ‘severe’ between 401 to 500.
