Weather Today: In many states of the country, the weather seems to be quite disturbed. At some places people are in distress due to the scorching heat and at other places it is raining heavily. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain in the states from May 5 to 9. Temperature may rise in 12 districts of Kerala

The condition of people across the country is miserable due to heat. In many states of the country, the maximum temperature reached 42-45 degrees Celsius on 4 May 2024. At the same time, the intensity of heat wave has decreased in some areas of the country. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted relief from the scorching heat in many states of the country from May 5 to May 9. According to the Meteorological Department, today (May 5) there is a possibility of heat wave in West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The temperature reached 46 degrees Celsius in Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh. It remained the hottest place in the country for the third consecutive day on Saturday.

The maximum temperature on Saturday remained between 40 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius in parts of Telangana, Vidarbha, Rayalaseema and Interior Odisha, North Interior Karnataka, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra and East Uttar Pradesh. Here today (5 May 2024) an orange alert of heavy rain has been issued in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Assam and Meghalaya.

Weather condition in Delhi

The sky will remain clear in Delhi till May 7. During this period, strong winds will continue. However, there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Delhi on May 9. According to IMD, the maximum temperature of Delhi may remain between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius this entire week. The minimum temperature is expected to be between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department said that today (May 5, 2024) the humidity level was recorded at 31 percent at 8.30 am. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data till 9 am, the air quality index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded in the ‘poor’ category (302).

Chances of rain in these states

The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain in Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand from May 5 to 9. During this period, light to moderate rain may occur in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Karnataka may also receive light to moderate rain between May 6 and May 9.

Extreme heat in Kerala, yellow alert issued

Temperature may increase in Kerala. Yellow alert has been issued for 12 districts of the state. IMD said the maximum temperature may reach 39 degrees Celsius in Palakkad, around 38 degrees Celsius in Kollam, Thrissur and Kozhikode, and around 37 degrees Celsius in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Kannur districts.
