In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of eight degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal. Ludhiana recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal, while Patiala recorded a minimum temperature of 9.1 degrees.
Weather Update 22 January: Severe cold is going to knock again in many areas of the country including Delhi-NCR. According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall at different places in the western Himalayan region till January 23. The Meteorological Department says that there may be rain in Rajasthan and western Madhya Pradesh on January 22. According to the IMD forecast, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh on January 22.
Light to moderate rain or snowfall is expected at some places in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday-Thursday, while the weather will remain dry thereafter till January 27. Hansa and Kaza received 2.5 cm and 0.8 cm snowfall respectively on Tuesday, the local weather office said. The weather remained dry in the rest of the state.

As far as Delhi-NCR is concerned, the cold is expected to increase here after January 23. The Meteorological Department says that fog is likely to occur at most places in the morning on January 24. In view of this, a yellow alert has been issued. At the same time, dense fog is also likely to occur in the morning at some places. The maximum temperature here can be recorded around 18 while the minimum around 8 degrees Celsius.
Weather condition of Haryana and Punjab
The minimum temperature was recorded above normal in most places of Haryana and Punjab on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Chandigarh, the joint capital of both the states, was recorded at 10.5 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees above normal. The minimum temperature in Ambala, Haryana was recorded at 10.5 degrees, which was four degrees above normal. Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, Narnaul, Faridabad and Gurugram also recorded above normal minimum temperatures of 8.3 degrees, 8 degrees, 9.3 degrees, 7.8 degrees, 9.5 degrees and 10.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
The minimum temperature in Amritsar, Punjab was recorded at eight degrees Celsius, which is four degrees above normal. The minimum temperature in Ludhiana was recorded at 10.5 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature in Patiala was recorded at 9.1 degrees. Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Ferozepur and Mohali also recorded above normal minimum temperatures at 8.6 degrees, 8 degrees, 8.1 degrees and 10.8 degrees Celsius respectively. However, Bathinda and Faridkot experienced a cold night with minimum temperatures settling at 6.4 degrees and 6.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
