Whenever a storm occurs in the Bay of Bengal during the Northeast Monsoon season, we generally see that the Northeast Monsoon pattern gets disturbed and takes time to restore. This is what has happened as Cyclone Michong formed in the Bay of Bengal and crossed the Andhra coast yesterday. Along with this, rains intensified in Andhra coast as well as in some parts of Tamil Nadu and even in many areas of Telangana.
However, other parts of South India that receive rain during the Northeast Monsoon, including Coastal Karnataka as well as South Interior Karnataka, did not see substantial rainfall activities. It will take some time for the pattern to become normal.
