Jaipur. The Rajasthan government has approved the draft of Mukhyamantri Kisan Mitra Urja Yojana, under which there is a provision of giving a grant of Rs 1000 per month to the agricultural consumers. According to an official statement, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the draft of Mukhyamantri Kisan Mitra Energy Scheme. Under this scheme, the state government will give a grant of one thousand rupees per month and maximum 12 thousand rupees per year on electricity bills to the metered agricultural consumers. This will put a financial burden of Rs 1,450 crore on the exchequer every year.
The benefit of this scheme will start getting from May 2021. Under this, electricity bills will be issued by the Electricity Distribution Corporations to the eligible agricultural consumers on the basis of bi-monthly billing system. On pro-rata basis, 60 percent of the electricity bill will be payable up to a maximum of one thousand rupees per month.
Central and state government employees and income tax payers will not be eligible for agricultural consumer subsidy amount. Under this, eligible consumers will have to link their bank account with Aadhaar number. The grant amount will be given only if the electricity distribution corporations do not have arrears against the concerned consumer.
After paying the arrears, the subsidy amount will be payable to the consumer on the upcoming electricity bill. If a farmer consumes less electricity and his bill is less than one thousand rupees, then the difference between the actual bill and the grant amount will be deposited in his bank account. This will encourage the farmers to save electricity.
