Rajasthan Polls 2023: In view of the large number of wedding ceremonies on 23 November, the Election Commission has announced that voting in Rajasthan will be held on 25 November.
Rajasthan Polls 2023: The Election Commission has changed the voting date for Rajasthan Assembly elections. The Commission issued a notification saying that instead of November 23, 2023, voting will be held in Rajasthan on November 25. The Commission has taken this decision in view of the large number of marriages and events to be held on 23 November. The Commission said that these events are likely to have an impact on voting. Like before, the results of Rajasthan elections will come on December 3, 2023.
Why was the voting date changed?
The Election Commission said that the Commission had received many applications from various political parties and social organizations that large-scale weddings and social programs are to be held on November 23, due to which the date of voting should be changed. Failure to do so may cause inconvenience to a large number of people. This may also reduce the voting percentage. Keeping all these things in mind, the Commission has decided to change the voting date from November 23, 2023 (Thursday) to November 25, 2023 (Saturday).
Actually, due to Devotthan Ekadashi being on 23rd November, weddings and other religious programs take place on a large scale in the state. Citing this, BJP and many other social organizations of the state had requested the Election Commission to change the date of assembly elections. Former Union Minister and BJP MP PP Chaudhary had also written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar demanding change in the date of Rajasthan Assembly Elections-2023 in view of the auspicious time symbol Devotthan Ekadashi.
