Raksha Bandhan 2022: How Mother Santoshi was born, what is her relation with Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan 2022: It is believed that Ganesh ji has two sons, whose names are Shubh and Labh. But in many places it is also believed that Mata Santoshi is the daughter of Shri Ganesh. In fact, Ganesh ji had manifested her with his will power and considered her as his daughter.

Raksha Bandhan 2022: Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of brother-sister love. According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Rakshabandhan is celebrated every year on the full moon of the month of Shravan. It is also called Shravani Purnima. This year the festival of Rakshabandhan is being celebrated on 11th and 12th August 2022. On this day sisters tie rakhi on the wrists of their brothers, while brothers promise to protect their sisters. There are many folk tales related to Rakshabandhan and many ancient mythological stories are prevalent. This festival is related to almost all the deities. But there are many stories of this festival associated with Shiva family. One of them is the story of Ganesh ji.

Manifested by the wish of Ganesha

It is believed that Ganesh ji has two sons, whose names are Shubh and Labh. But in many places it is also believed that Mata Santoshi is the daughter of Shri Ganesh. Actually, Ganesh ji had manifested her with his will power and considered her as his daughter. Lord Ganesha himself was also born out of the will power of Mother Parvati. Mother Santoshi is considered a symbol of love, contentment, forgiveness, happiness and hope. It is believed that worshiping Mata Santoshi for 16 consecutive Fridays brings peace and prosperity in the lives of the devotees. Mata Santoshi is also considered an incarnation of Durga.

Mother Santoshi is the daughter of Lord Ganesha

There is no clear mention for this story in the mythological texts. On the basis of beliefs, it is said that Lord Ganesha had two sons along with a daughter named Mata Santoshi. Lord Ganesha had two wives Riddhi and Siddhi from whom he had two sons Shubh and Benefit. It is believed that Lord Ganesha was getting his sister Ashok Sundari to tie the thread of protection. During this both his sons Shubh and Labh were playing there. When he saw his aunt tying a thread on the wrist of father Ganesha, he asked its secret. On this, Ganesh ji told him the importance of Rakshabandhan and also narrated the story. Then the sons of Ganesh ji said, we also want our sister, why is she nowhere?

The girl appeared by the grace of Goddess Durga

Saying this, both the boys demanded a sister. Then Ganesh ji understood this insistence of his as a sign and called upon the power that was necessary for the welfare of the world. By the grace of Goddess Durga, a girl appeared there. He called Ganesha as his father and asked the reason for his appearance. Ganesh ji said, from today you are my daughter and my sons were very satisfied with your appearance, so in the world you will be known as Santoshi Mata. Mata Santoshi, the daughter of Ganesh ji, tied rakhi to her brothers and since then she is giving blessings of happiness and wealth to the world.
