Banks will remain closed in most parts of the country on the occasion of Ram Navami today (21 April). The last day of Ramnavani Chaitra Navratri is celebrated every year throughout India. It is believed that Lord Rama was born on the Navami date of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. According to the RBI calendar, banks will remain closed in Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, Shimla on the day of Ram Navami. However, there are some states where Ramnavami is not celebrated as a national holiday.

Banks will be open here

According to the RBI calendar, banks will remain open in some parts of the country today. Banks will also be open on the day of Ram Navami in Aizawl, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Imphal, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, New Delhi, Panaji, Raipur, Shillong, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram.

Apart from today, banks will remain closed on April 24 and 25. The fourth is on Saturday 24 April and Sunday on 25 April.

Banks are closed but customers can avail online banking services, mobile banking and ATMs will remain operational.

Stock market also closed

Meanwhile, Indian stock markets (both BSE and NSE) are closed today due to the festival of Ram Navami. According to the official website of BSE India, trading in equity segment, equity derivatives segment and SLB segment will be suspended on April 21, 2021.

According to the information given on the website, trading in the commodity, currency derivatives segment and interest rate derivatives segment will remain suspended even today.
