The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said that Meerut South RRTS station will be opened for passengers from Sunday, that is, passengers will now be able to travel from NCR to Meerut. NCRTC said in a statement on Saturday that 42 km of the 82 km long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) will be operational on Sunday.
Delhi NCR rail passengers have got a big gift on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said that Meerut South RRTS station will be opened for passengers from Sunday, that is, passengers will now be able to travel from NCR to Meerut. NCRTC said in a statement on Saturday that 42 km of the 82 km long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) will be operational on Sunday.
Meerut’s first station will open at 2 pm
NCRTC said in its statement that Meerut’s first station will be opened for passenger operations from 2 pm on Sunday. The next stop after Modinagar North will be Meerut South. With the addition of this eight km section, a total of 42 km of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is now operational, which includes nine stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut.
Till now Namo Bharat train services were operational only from Ghaziabad to Modinagar North. Now with the start of service in Meerut city, the journey of those going towards Ghaziabad and Delhi will become easier. These people will find it easier and faster to travel to their destination. This will also help those who travel from Ghaziabad or Delhi to Meerut for work or education.
The work will be completed by June 2025
RRTS started operations in a small section of Ghaziabad in October 2023. The 17 km distance was between Sahibabad and Duhai depot in Ghaziabad. It was further extended in March, with at least 22 lakh passengers traveling in this service so far. The entire section of the corridor between Delhi and Meerut will have 25 stations. NCRTC is hoping to complete the entire portion between Delhi and Meerut by June 2025.
