Verification of ration card holders: The supply department in UP’s Sant Kabir Nagar district will now verify the card holders every month. Its purpose is to remove the ineligible people from the list and add the eligible ones. The central government gives five kg ration per unit to the poor every month. In a recent investigation, it was found that not only the living people are taking advantage of this scheme, but some people are also lifting ration every month in the name of many dead people. In the district, ration was being lifted from the ration dealer in the name of 1633 dead people. They are still kept alive on paper to take advantage of the government scheme. Ration was also being lifted in their name every month. The supply department is removing the names of these dead people from the ration list. So far, the names of 1500 dead people have been removed from the list. Due to the addition of the names of these people in the list, the names of the poor could not be added to the ration list. But now the names of the poor can be added easily.
The matter came to light after doing e-KYC
866 shops of public distribution system are being operated in Sant Kabir Nagar. Arrangements have been made to provide ration to 3 lakh 20 thousand 446 ration card holders. Out of these, Antyodaya card holders and eligible household card holders are given the benefit of free ration every month. People keep trying to get ration cards made for free ration. Now the government has implemented the facility of e-KYC. After this, various types of scams happening in the scheme are getting caught. Recently, the government has sent a list to the department, under which the names of 1633 such people have come to light in the district, who have died. But ration is being purchased in their name every month. Now the names of such ineligible people are being rejected.
District Supply Officer Vijay Prakash Sahay said that the government has received a list in which the doubts have been raised about the ration being taken by the dead, those having more than two hectares of land and income tax payers. The same list is being verified on the spot. The ration cards of all those people in whose name free ration is being rejected will be cancelled. Now verification will be done every month so that the ineligible can be rejected from the list.
