There is a fear of theft of valuables kept at home, that is why we keep gold and silver ornaments, property papers and often even cash in bank lockers. But now you will not be able to keep anything you want in the bank locker. Reserve Bank has changed the rules of bank locker. In such a situation, if you also have a locker in any bank, then it is possible that soon you will get a notice from the bank and you will have to sign a new contract.
The Reserve Bank has directed the banks to contact their customers at the earliest and ask them to renew the new contracts at the earliest. In this new contract of banks, the rules related to keeping the goods in the locker have been mentioned. It states what items customers can and can’t keep in the locker.
Now only these items will be allowed to be kept
In its new rule, the Reserve Bank has been told about the goods kept in the locker. Based on this, now you can keep only necessary documents like jewelery or property papers in the bank. Along with this, it has been said in the new rule that the locker will now be given only to the customers for their personal use. For this, the Indian Banks Association will make a model agreement, in which the banks will enter into an agreement with the customers by making minor changes.
Will not be able to keep this stuff
According to the new rules of the Reserve Bank, many things have been declared illegal to keep in the bank locker. The possession of explosives or narcotics was already not allowed. But according to the new rule, now the keeping of cash, which includes dollar or currency of any other country other than Indian currency, has been completely banned. Apart from this, there will also be a ban on keeping weapons, drugs or medicines, or poisonous items.
Will customers have to pay the contract money
Banks will enter into locker related agreements with the customers. But the customers will not have to bear the expenses related to stamp paper etc. The Bank will bear the cost of renewal of contract for existing locker customers.
