This bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on 1 August and in the Rajya Sabha on 7 August 2023. After this, now the Central Government has issued a notification on this and announced that the new rules will be implemented from October 1.

You will get these benefits by changing the rules

The main objective behind the change in the rules of birth and death registration is to prepare a database of births and deaths at the central and state level. After the implementation of this rule, the state and central governments will be able to easily share the data of births and deaths among themselves.

For this, Chief Registrar and Registrar will be appointed by the states. The Chief Registrar will do the work of maintaining data at the state level. At the block level, this work will be done by the Registrar. This will help in preparing a national database of births and deaths across the country and will make it easier to prepare many data bases like ration card, voter ID card.
