Ruye Card has also reached the United Arab Emirates (UAE). On Tuesday, PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched the UPI Ruay Card service in Abu Dhabi. A day before this, UPI service was started in Sri Lanka and Mauritius. This shows India’s growing soft power.
Abu Dhabi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched the UPI RuPay card service here on Tuesday. President Nahyan ‘swiped’ a card emblazoned with his name as he kicked off the service in Abu Dhabi. PM Modi told President Nahyan, ‘We are ushering in a new fintech era with the launch of my UPI RuPay card and your Jaiwan card.’ He called it a big achievement.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that on this occasion both the leaders also witnessed several bilateral agreements. This includes an agreement on linking instant payment platforms – UPI (India) and ANI (UAE). This will provide hassle-free cross-border transactions to the people of both the countries.
Another agreement to integrate domestic debit/credit cards was signed between Rupay (India) and Jaywan (UAE). This will help in increasing the acceptance of RuPay in UAE. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to UAE from Tuesday. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. This temple is built on 27 acres of land. In 2015, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, donated 13.5 acres of land for the construction of the temple.
PM Modi was given Guard of Honor upon reaching UAE. Meanwhile, PM Modi reached a hotel, where the NRIs gave him a warm welcome. Someone raised slogans like ‘Modi-Modi’, while someone else raised slogans like ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’.
