Mumbai, April 26 (PTI) The rupee rose 24 paise to 74.77 during early trade on Monday due to the weakness of the US dollar and the strengthening of the domestic stock market.
In the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 74.81 against the US dollar, and then surged to 74.77, showing an increase of 24 paise over the previous closing price. The rupee had closed at 75.01 against the US currency in the previous session. Meanwhile, the dollar index, showing the position of the US dollar against six major currencies, fell 0.18 percent.

Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude futures fell 0.38 percent to $ 65.86 a barrel.
