State Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has announced an increase in the salary of state MLAs by Rs 40,000 per month in the assembly today. However, while announcing this in the assembly, Mamta Banerjee said that there will be no revision in her salary, because she is not taking any salary for a long time.
She said, “The salary of MLAs of West Bengal Legislative Assembly is very low as compared to other states. Therefore, it has been decided that their monthly salary will be increased by Rs 40,000. However, Banerjee did not give details of the actual salary of the MPs after the hike, which includes allowances and additional salaries as members of various standing committees. Banerjee said that although the allowances of MLAs are being increased, there is no proposal to increase the salary of the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister’s salary did not increase
West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee said it does not set a good precedent that the MLA’s salary increased, but the Chief Minister’s salary remained unchanged. Everyone’s salary is being increased, but the Chief Minister has not given any increase. We all know that you do not take your salary, it is your generosity. But considering the future circumstances, there is a need to improve the salary. With the future in mind, let your salary officially increase. Otherwise, it doesn’t look good. I request that your allowance should also be increased.
However, CM Banerjee politely rejected this request.
