SBI Alert: Some time back State Bank of India had issued a notification for all its customers. In this, all the account holders were asked to get the KYC of the account done again. For KYC, the bank had asked for photocopies of Aadhar card and PAN card through mail or post. The bank had said that those customers who do not do so, their account will be suspended.
A customer tagged SBI on Twitter and asked why the bank is getting KYC done again? To this SBI said that, ‘As per RBI rules, these documents are being asked for linking the account with the user’s Aadhaar and PAN card. If your Aadhar card and PAN are already linked with your bank account, then there is no need to submit the documents again.
What happens if the account is suspended?
When the account is suspended, your account will be frozen and government subsidy will stop. You will stop getting the benefit of all kinds of government facilities. You will not be able to withdraw or deposit money from your account. To save you from all these inconveniences, the bank is messaging you again and again.
Know whether your Aadhaar is linked with the bank or not?
To know whether your Aadhaar card is linked with the bank or not, visit the official website of UDAI, uidai.gov.in. Here in the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab, click on ‘Check Aadhaar/Bank Account Linking Status’. Now enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number and type the security code and click on ‘Send OTP’. Now an OTP will come on your registered number. Login through this. After login you will know whether your Aadhar card is linked with the bank or not.
