Petitions filed in Rajasthan and Delhi High Court (HC) regarding equalization of minimum age for men and women for marriage to Supreme Court today The answer was summoned. Chief Justice S. a. Bobde took cognizance of the report of senior advocate Geeta Luthra. It was said in the report that two similar petitions are pending in the High Court (HC). And they can be transferred to the Supreme Court for an official order on this issue. Geeta appeared in Luthra court on behalf of BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay. At the same time, the High Court bench has asked to issue notice. In this bench, Justice A. s. Bopanna and Justice V. Ramasubramaniam were also involved.
Petition to make men and women age equal
The Supreme Court has issued a notice on the petition filed on behalf of Ashwini Upadhyay. At the same time, advocate Geeta Luthra was produced on behalf of the petitioner. The petition has sought transfer of those petitions pending in the Rajasthan High Court and the Delhi High Court, demanding equal age for marriage of men and women. The petition states that this petition has been filed to avoid plurality of cases and conflicting views on the interpretation of Articles 14,15 and 21. This includes decisions related to gender justice and equality.
