School Holidays Today: The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rains in the state today. District Magistrates have declared holidays in schools in three districts.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rains in the state today. Red, Orange and Yellow alerts have been issued in various districts. Red alert in Idukki and Kannur districts today. Yellow alert has been announced in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts while Orange alert has been announced in all other districts. Collectors have declared holiday for educational institutions in Ernakulam, Kasaragod and Alappuzha today (Tuesday 04-07-2023) due to the possibility of heavy rains. A complete holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Ernakulam and except for colleges in Kasaragod district. Know the details.

Holidays in alappuzha

Alappuzha Collector informed that as Orange Alert is in force in the district today and as per radar image after 5.30 am there is warning of heavy rain in the district in the coming hours, holiday has been declared for all educational institutions including professional colleges and Anganwadis Is. The Collector also said that there will be no change in the pre-scheduled examinations.

Holidays in Ernakulam

In view of heavy rain warning, the District Collector has declared holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges in Ernakulam district today. The Collector informed that the holiday is applicable to all educational institutions like Anganwadis, Kendriya Vidyalayas, State, ICSE and CBSE schools.

Today is a holiday for schools in Kasaragod.

Most areas of Kasaragod district receive heavy rainfall. As a precaution in this situation, District Collector K Impa Shekhar has declared holiday for educational institutions like state, CBSE, ICSE schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Anganwadis and Madrasas in the district today (Tuesday, July 4, 2023). He also suggested that the heads of educational institutions should take steps to accommodate the lost study time due to today’s holiday. Along with this, the collector also clarified that the holiday will not apply to colleges.

Chance of heavy rain

The Central Meteorological Department has warned that even today heavy rains will continue in the state. Red alert has been declared in Idukki and Kannur districts today. Ernakulam was also on red alert yesterday. A red alert has been issued in the districts where there is a possibility of heavy rains. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain means more than 204.4 mm of rain in 24 hours.

Orange alert in 10 districts

Orange alert has been announced today in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kasaragod districts. There is a possibility of very heavy rain at different places in these districts. The Meteorological Department has defined heavy rain as 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain in 24 hours. Yellow alert has also been given in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts.

Chief Minister gave precautionary instructions

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that considering the intensity of rains in the state, the district level and taluk level emergency operation centers should function round the clock. A State Emergency Operation Center has also been made operational with representatives from various departments and the National Disaster Response Force. He also informed that 7 teams of National Disaster Response Force have been deployed in Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Alappuzha and Thrissur districts for use in emergency situations. ,

Heavy rain for five days

The western part of the Monsoon trough is moving northwards from its normal position and the eastern part of the Monsoon trough is in its normal position. Off-shore trough is present from South Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast. A cyclonic circulation lies over southwest part of southeast Bay of Bengal and neighborhood. Under this, the Meteorological Department has informed that for the next 5 days there is a possibility of widespread rains in the state and very heavy rains at different places.
