School Holiday 2024: Schools will remain closed on August 16 in Jalandhar district of Punjab. On the occasion of 78th Independence Day, CM Bhagwant Mann himself has announced a holiday during the flag hoisting ceremony at a state-level event organized at Guru Govind Singh Stadium. Classes will not be conducted in schools on Friday.

Why did the CM take this step?

The government has taken this step to provide relief to the students. Many students were involved in the preparation of the program to be held inside the stadium on August 15. They played an important role in making the program a success.

Holiday declared in government offices and colleges as well

This order of CM Mann will be applicable to all government and private schools as well as colleges. Apart from this, holiday has also been declared in government offices of Jalandhar.

CM made these announcements for students

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister has also made many other announcements regarding students. 100 Schools of Happiness have been announced in the state. Under which 100 primary schools will be opened for children aged 3 to 11 years. Its objective is to promote stress-free primary education. Apart from this, the CM has also announced to provide free admission facility for UPSC. Free treatment through Mohalla Clinic and financial assistance for martyred Agniveers has also been announced.
