The cold continues in the hilly areas as well as in the plains. In such a situation, winter vacation has been announced in schools by the education department of many states.
School Closed: The severity of cold has increased since the beginning of the new year. The mercury is visible falling from the hills to the plains. Due to dense fog in many states including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert. Cold conditions persist in Delhi-NCR also. Amid cold wave and severe cold, winter vacations have started in schools in many states including the capital Delhi.
Schools will open in the capital Delhi on January 7.
Schools will remain closed in the capital Delhi from the beginning of the new year i.e. from January 1 to January 6. This year the winter vacation is only for 6 days because due to pollution, winter vacation was announced in November also. Cold wave and fog are troubling people in Uttar Pradesh.
Schools closed in UP till January 14
Due to the cold wave in North India, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced winter vacation for 15 days from December 31, 2023 to January 14, 2024. In view of the increasing cold, the District Education Officer in Ghaziabad, UP had ordered that the timings of all schools from classes 1 to 8 should be changed from 10 am to 3 pm. According to the Meteorological Department, visibility has reached zero in Bareilly, Jhansi, Varanasi, Bahraich, Lucknow, and Prayagraj districts of UP.
Schools closed in Rajasthan till January 5
The Meteorological Department has issued a red and orange alert of cold and fog in many areas of Rajasthan on January 1, 2024. Rajasthan Board had announced winter holidays in all schools from December 25. After 13 days of winter vacation, schools here will be opened on January 6. At the same time, there will be winter vacation in Haryana from 1 to 15 January 2024.
Bad condition due to cold in Jammu and Kashmir, winter vacation in schools for 2 months
Apart from this, the hilly area of Jammu is in bad condition due to snowfall and cold. People in the valley are facing problems due to dense fog. Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) informed that there will be holidays for classes up to 8th class from 11 December 2023 to 29 February 2024. Whereas the holidays for 9th to 12th are from 18th December to 29th February.
