School Holiday: Telangana government has declared tomorrow 8th February as a holiday. Schools will remain closed in the state on the occasion of Muslim festival Shab-e-Meraj. In the school holiday calendar released by the government, February 8 has been declared as Shab-e-Meraj holiday.
Shab-e-Meraj is considered an auspicious day by Muslims. Mosques are decorated with lamps on that day. They stay awake the whole night and pray. Due to 8th February (Thursday) being a general holiday, holiday has been declared in government offices and schools.
Furthermore, the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have declared March 8 as a school holiday on the occasion of Mahashivratri. Students will get three consecutive days of holiday as Mahashivratri falls on a Friday while the next two days are Saturday and Sunday.
Telangana schools got a six-day break from January 12 to January 17, 2024, due to Sankranti. A Hindu festival that marks the onset of the harvest season, Sankranti is celebrated with much pomp and enthusiasm across the country.
