School Holiday 2024: In view of heavy rains, an order has been issued to keep schools and colleges closed in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry today on Wednesday. After this, there is a government holiday on Valmiki Jayanti on 17 October, while PU colleges will remain closed till 18 October.

School Holiday 2024: There is good news for school students. Due to heavy rains, holiday has been declared in many schools and colleges of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today on 16 October. On October 17, on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kati Bihu, schools and colleges will also remain closed in states like Karnataka, Assam, and Himachal Pradesh.

Apart from this, there will be a public holiday across the country on Sunday on 20 October and 27 October due to weekly holiday. There will be a holiday in Jammu and Kashmir on October 26 on the occasion of Pariksha Diwas. Here, Vishwakarma Day / Govardhan Puja on November 2, Second Saturday on November 09, Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 15 will be a holiday in the schools of many states.

Holiday in schools of these states on 16-17 October

  • Due to the forecast of heavy rains, Bengaluru Urban District Collector Jagdish has ordered holiday in all Anganwadi centers, government and private schools in the city on 16 October. Since there is a government holiday on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, schools will remain closed in the state on 17 October as well.
  • All schools and colleges will remain closed today on 16 October in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpet and Karaikal areas of Tamil Nadu along with Puducherry. Schools in other districts like Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore and Prakasam of Andhra Pradesh will remain closed till 17 October.
  • In view of the Shobha Yatra related to the Prakat Utsav of Valmiki ji, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has ordered holiday after 2 pm on 16 October, hence there will be a holiday in government and private educational institutions under the limits of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation after noon. All schools and offices will remain closed on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti on 17 October.

Know when and where schools will remain closed

  • In Chhattisgarh, all schools will remain closed on 29 October due to Dhanteras, Narak Chaudas on 30 October, Diwali or Lakshmi Puja on 31 October, Govardhan Puja on 1 November and Bhai Dooj on 2 November.
  • In Odisha, schools will remain closed from 20 to 29 October.
  • In Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan too, all schools will remain closed on account of Dussehra, Diwali, Dhanteras, Narak Chaudas, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj.
  • In Bihar, schools will remain closed on 20 October Sunday, 27 October Sunday, Dhanteras on 29 October, Narak Chaudas on 30 October, Diwali or Lakshmi Puja on 31 October, Govardhan Puja on 1 November and Bhai Dooj on 2 November.
  • In Jharkhand, government schools will be closed due to Dhanteras on October 29, Narak Chaudas on October 30, Diwali or Lakshmi Puja on October 31, Govardhan Puja on November 1 and Bhai Dooj on November 2 and Chhath on November 6.
  • The Karnataka Public Education Department has officially announced Dussehra holidays for students in government and private schools for the academic year 2024-25, with holidays scheduled till October 20, giving students a total holiday of 17 days.
  • In UP too, schools will be closed due to Narak Chaturdashi on October 30, Diwali on October 31, Govardhan Puja on November 2, Bhai Dooj on November 3, Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 15, Guru Teg Bahadur Jayanti on November 24 and Christmas on December 25.
