In view of the severe cold, cold wave and fog, winter holidays have been extended in many states of North India. In the states of South India, holidays have been declared in schools from next week due to Sankranti and Pongal.
School Winter Holiday 2025: There is relief news for school students. In view of the severe cold, cold wave and dense fog, school holidays have been extended in many states including Rajasthan, UP and Bihar. In some cities, holiday has been declared till January 11 and in some till January 15. At the same time, schools will be closed on 12 January due to Sunday, in such a situation, students will get the benefit of 4 to 5 consecutive days of holidays.
Holidays have been declared for children up to class 8th till January 11 in Sri Ganganar, Hanumangarh, Sawai Madhopur, Khairthal-Tijara, Jhalawar, Kotputli-Baharod, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Alwar Churu and Bikaner of Rajasthan. Schools will remain closed till January 11 in many districts including Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Siwan, Munger, Sheikhpura, Saran, Bettiah of Bihar. Schools will remain closed on January 12 due to Sunday. This order will be applicable to CBSE, ICSE, secondary and all government and private schools.
Schools will open in these districts of UP on January 15
All schools from class 1 to 8 in Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi of UP will remain closed till January 11.
It will remain closed till January 15 in Mathura and January 14 in Unnao. An order has been issued to close all schools in Farrukhabad and Lakhimpur Kheri till January 14. Now all schools will open on January 15.
Government Secondary School Budhlada, Senior Secondary School Budhlada, Government Secondary School Bareta, Government Secondary School Bareta, Secondary School Jhunir, Secondary School Bhamme Kalan, Secondary School Sardulgarh, Secondary School Sardulgarh, Secondary School Mansa and Government Secondary School in Mansa district of Punjab have declared holiday on Saturday, January 18 due to examination. This holiday will be under the Negotiable Instruments Act, all the staff will remain present in the school as usual.
Holidays declared in Telangana and Tamil Nadu
Schools will remain closed from 11 to 16 January in Telangana due to Sankranti holiday.
The Tamil Nadu government has declared all educational institutions including schools and colleges will remain closed from 14 to 19 January on the occasion of Pongal. Pongal will be celebrated on 14th, Thiruvalluvar Day on 15th and Uzhavar Thirunal festival on 16th January.
The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has declared holidays in all colleges from 11 to 16 January, colleges will reopen on 17 January (Friday). No classes will be conducted in colleges during this period.
