Every year the Delhi government announces Delhi winter break to protect the school children from the harsh winter. This year also the Directorate of Education has announced winter break in Delhi schools. Delhi Education Directorate has announced Delhi Winter Holidays from January 1 to 6, 2024. Students will have to return to their respective schools from Monday, January 8, 2024. All government and private schools will remain closed during this period.
In the month of November, Delhi was in bad condition due to pollution. At the time of Diwali, the capital Delhi had become a gas chamber, in view of which the Delhi government had announced winter vacation in the month of November instead of December. According to the notification issued by the Delhi government, schools remained closed from November 9 to November 18. Due to pollution break every year, this time Delhi Winter Vacation 2023 has been reduced from 15 days to 6 days. Earlier the winter vacation used to last till about 14 January. The authorities decided to reduce the holidays to cover the loss of education due to closure of schools due to pollution in the city.
Winter break may increase
Not only the cold but the level of pollution in Delhi is also continuously increasing, in such a situation the state government may once again consider extending the Delhi winter vacation. However, no official information has been given regarding this yet.
Online classes
There will be no physical classes for any class during winter holidays in Delhi schools. However, if the school wishes, it can take online classes for some classes.
School timings increased in Ghaziabad
Due to cold, there is winter break not only in Delhi but also in schools of UP. With holidays, school timings are also increased. According to the order issued by the District Education Office, the timings of schools from class 1 to 8 in Ghaziabad have been changed from 10 am to 3 pm.
