According to agency IANS, the order of the District Education Officer states that in Ghaziabad, the timings of all schools from classes 1 to 8 have been changed from 10 am to 3 pm. According to the order issued by the District Magistrate, in Aligarh, schools of all boards from classes 1 to 12, including Aligarh Muslim University, will remain closed on Thursday and Friday.
Similarly, in Mathura also the timing of classes has been changed from 10 am to 3 pm. Officials also announced that schools for classes 1 to 8 in Jalaun will remain closed till December 31. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced winter vacation for 15 days from December 31, 2023, to January 14, 2024.
Cold wave continues in North India
A thick layer of smog covered Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, affecting normal life. Visibility dropped to less than 20 meters in some areas. At least eight people died and 30 others were injured in separate road accidents in different parts of the state due to dense fog. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), dense fog is expected to continue on Thursday and Friday also.
