This means that schools of class 10th and 12th will also remain closed during this period. In this way, school holiday has been declared in Delhi. Schools in Delhi will now open on 20th November.

As per the pre-determined plan, the winter break in the schools of Delhi starts from the last week of December in January, but this time the government of CM Arvind Kejriwal has decided to do the winter break earlier. At present, due to pollution in Delhi, classes of all schools except 10th and 12th are running online.

Decision taken due to air pollution

The Directorate of Education of Delhi Government has decided to declare ‘Winter Break’. According to the Directorate of Education, there will be winter vacation in schools from 9 to 18 November. In view of the continuously worsening situation of air pollution in the national capital, the government has directed to declare winter holidays ahead of time. Usually, these holidays are given during the extreme cold in December-January, but in view of the current pollution situation in Delhi, the pre-determined winter break of December-January has already been declared.

Earlier, a decision was taken to close primary schools in Delhi till November 10. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) shows that the air quality index (AQI) in Delhi’s Anand Vihar on Wednesday morning was 452. It is at the level of 433 in RK Puram, 426 in Okhla, 460 in Punjabi Bagh, 382 in Sri Aurobindo Marg, 413 in Shadipur and 413 in ITO.

Possibility of light drizzle on November 10

In view of this serious situation of pollution, Delhi government has also called a high level meeting of the concerned departments. Meanwhile, a team of technical and operational staff has reached ‘Smog Tower’ located at Connaught Place. Smog towers have been started to control air pollution. The Meteorological Department believes that there may be light drizzle in Delhi on November 10. However, at present there is not much hope of getting much relief from this.

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be fog in the morning in Delhi till 13th November. Experts consider vehicles as a major reason for pollution in Delhi. It has also been decided to implement odd-even system for vehicles in Delhi from next week. Experts believe that in such a situation, the decision to close schools is right to protect school students from air pollution and also to ensure that students are not affected by the odd-even problem. There will be holiday in all schools from 9th to 18th November due to odd-even arrangement of vehicles. Schools will remain closed on 19th November as it is Sunday.

Earlier it was decided to keep the school closed till 10th November

Earlier on November 5, the government had decided to keep schools up to class 5 closed till November 10. However, schools from class 6th to 12th had not received any order. He was given the option of online classes. Diwali is on 12th November. During this period, the pollution level in Delhi is likely to increase further. It is noteworthy that winter break holidays in Delhi schools are in the month of December-January, but due to pollution, this time the government has declared winter holidays much earlier.
