May States Schools Shuts Due to Rain: Due to heavy rains, schools have been closed from July 11 to July 17 in many states including UP, Delhi. Schools will not open in Ghaziabad even on July 11. Whereas, some offices have given the facility of work from home to the employees.
New Delhi: Due to heavy rains in many states of the country including Delhi-NCR, there has been a situation of waterlogging, due to which the traffic has been badly affected. Major rivers including Yamuna, Ganga are flowing above the danger mark. In such a situation, many states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Punjab have ordered schools to be closed on July 11 as well. Whereas, schools will remain closed till 13 July in many states. At the same time, corporate offices in the Delhi NCR region have asked employees to work from home (WFH). For this, some offices have informed the employees through internal mail.
In many parts of North India including Punjab and Haryana, rains continued for the third consecutive day on Monday. According to the Meteorological Department, it has been raining in many parts of Punjab and Haryana since Monday morning. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to heavy rain at a few places in Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. These states had declared a holiday for schools on July 10, now instructions have been issued to keep the schools closed on July 11 as well.
Holiday for schools in Punjab till July 13
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said in a tweet that all government, aided, recognized and private schools in the state have holidays till July 13, 2023. Flood-like situation has been reported from many places in Punjab due to heavy rains and breach of embankments of tributaries and overflowing rivers.
Schools will not open in Himachal Pradesh even on July 11
All schools and colleges will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday in view of heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu tweeted in Hindi that all government and private educational institutions recognized by the state government would remain closed on July 10 and 11 in view of heavy rains in the state.
Schools closed in Uttarakhand till July 17
The Haridwar district administration has ordered closure of all schools up to class 1-12 from July 10-17 in view of the Kanwar fair. District Magistrate Dhiraj Garbyal said that in view of the Kanwar fair, the district administration has decided to close all schools and Anganwadi centers from July 10 to 17.
Schools closed till July 16 in some districts of Uttar Pradesh
Amid heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh, all schools in Ghaziabad will remain closed till July 15. District Information Officer Rakesh Chauhan said on Sunday that schools in Noida will remain closed in view of the heavy rains. Meanwhile, district administration officials said that all government and private educational institutions in UP’s Muzaffarnagar will remain closed from July 8 to 16 in view of the Kanwar Yatra.
