Schools Holiday: As per the instructions of the District Collectors of the respective districts, all government and private schools in Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Theni, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari districts have declared holiday on Thursday due to heavy rains.
Schools Holiday: It is raining heavily in Tamil Nadu. Heavy rains have affected people in many districts here. Amid heavy rains today (November 23), all government and private schools have been closed in Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Viruthunagar, Pudhukottai, Nilgiri districts of Tamil Nadu. This decision has been taken due to the situation arising due to heavy rains.
Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said moderate to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely over Kerala during the next five days due to the cyclonic circulation over Tamil Nadu.
It also said that there is a possibility of heavy rain at different places in the state between November 23 and 24. Based on IMD data, rainfall measurements in different areas of Tamil Nadu are as follows: Dharapur recorded 17 cm rainfall, both Avinashi and Andipatti recorded 14 cm rainfall, Parangipratai recorded 13 cm rainfall and Vatrap recorded 12 cm rainfall.
The Chennai Regional Meteorological Center’s forecast for Thursday predicted light to moderate rain across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal regions, with the possibility of thunder and lightning at isolated places. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu as well as Karaikal region.
