This year Chhath Puja will be celebrated on 7 November. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and some other states have announced a holiday on this occasion.
In which states have school holidays been announced?
This year the festival of Chhath Puja will be celebrated on 7 November. This festival is especially important in states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand. In this festival, women perform rituals for four days such as fasting, bathing in rivers, and worshiping the Sun God at sunset and sunrise. Here is the list of states which have announced a holiday in schools on this occasion.
Delhi
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has declared a public holiday on November 7 on the occasion of Chhath Puja. Chief Minister Atishi said in an official announcement that the Delhi government has announced a holiday on November 7 for Chhath Puja. So that the Purvanchal community can celebrate this festival with enthusiasm. Not only schools but all government offices in Delhi will also be closed on this day.
Bihar
The Bihar government has announced a four-day school holiday for Chhath Puja. The state government has declared a holiday in schools from November 6 to November 9. This will give the students a full opportunity to celebrate this festival.
Jharkhand
There has been no official announcement of school holiday in the state of Jharkhand yet. However, according to a notice issued by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, a limited holiday for Chhath Puja has been declared for central government employees on November 7.
Uttar Pradesh
Most schools in Uttar Pradesh will also remain closed on November 7 so that people can celebrate Chhath Puja on this day. However, the state government has not yet made any formal announcement of holiday in schools.
Bank and other holidays
On the occasion of Chhath Puja, not only schools but also banks will remain closed on November 7 in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand and West Bengal. In Bihar and Jharkhand, this holiday will also remain till November 8 so that people can take full advantage of Chhath Puja. These holidays announced on the occasion of Chhath Puja will give people an opportunity to celebrate this festival with their family and will facilitate in completing all the religious rituals.
