Schools Holiday: Schools will remain closed in Punjab till this date, CM took the decision

Punjab Schools Closed: Due to cold wave and fog in North India, many states have extended school holidays. In this context, now the Punjab government has also ordered school holidays.

Punjab Schools Closed: Cold wave is going on in North India. There is very low visibility due to fog in many areas of Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Punjab and UP. After this, many state governments have extended the winter holidays. In this context, the Punjab government has also extended the winter holidays by a week. CMO has confirmed this by tweeting. Now all government and private schools in Punjab will remain closed from January 8 to January 14, 2024.

Punjab CMO tweeted, ‘In view of the bad weather conditions in the region, CM Bhagwant Mann has ordered that all government, government-aided and private schools in the state will remain closed from January 8-14. CM said that this order was necessary in the larger interest of school going students. According to IMD, during the last 24 hours the minimum temperature of 6-9 °C was recorded in most parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh.

Delhi MCD schools will remain closed from 8 to 12 January

Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi posted on ‘X’, “In view of the current weather conditions, all MCD and its aided and affiliated schools will remain closed for the next five days i.e. from 08.01.2024 to 12.01.2024.” At the same time, 13th January is the second Saturday of the month and 14th is Sunday, hence schools will now open on 15th January. India Meteorological Department said that there will be light to moderate fog in the coming week. There is a possibility of cloudy sky and light rain on January 9.

Dense to very dense fog on 7th and 8th January

According to IMD, dense to very dense fog (visibility < 50 metres) is likely to occur in some areas of Punjab during night/morning hours on January 7 and 8, 2024. Severe to very severe cold days are likely in different parts of Punjab during January 7-8, 2024. Severe to very cold days (minimum temperature ≤10°C) are likely to occur over isolated parts of Haryana and Chandigarh during January 7-8, 2024.
