Schools Reopening in Delhi: With the end of Makar Sankranti holiday, orders to open schools have also started coming. Schools in most states including the country’s capital Delhi were closed from 1 to 15 January 2025. Accordingly, schools will now open from tomorrow i.e. January 16. In Ghaziabad adjoining Delhi, schools have been ordered to remain closed till January 18, 2025. However, in view of the cold, cold wave and fog, winter vacation can be extended in other districts of UP as well.
The Delhi government had declared winter holidays in all government schools from 1 to 15 January 2025 (Winter Vacation Extended). Winter holidays were also extended in schools in the states adjoining Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh. In the states where schools were to open from January 6, 2025, the winter vacation was extended and schools were closed till January 15 (School Holidays). But in most states, schools will be opened from tomorrow.

Delhi Schools Reopening: Delhiites, get ready
The fog and cold are expected to continue in Delhi for the next few days. The holidays for students from class 1 to 8 in all government and private schools in Delhi are about to end. In many schools of Delhi, classes for students from class 9 to 12 had already started. In many schools, the syllabus was also being completed through online classes. But now almost all schools will open from January 16, 2025. If the holiday is extended for any reason, then the schools will open directly from January 20.
Tamil Nadu Schools Closed: Schools will open in Tamil Nadu next week
Pongal is one of the major festivals of Tamil Nadu. Just as there is a long holiday on festivals like Holi, Diwali and Chhath in North India, similarly a long break is given on the occasion of Pongal in Tamil Nadu. Holiday has been declared in many schools, colleges and government offices of Tamil Nadu till January 20, 2024. At the same time, most of the private schools and colleges have opened from today. The Telangana Education Board had announced holidays from 11 to 16 January 2025.
UP Schools Reopening: Where did the schools open in Rajasthan and UP?
Schools located in Jaipur, Dausa, Sikar, Bundi, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Dholpur etc. districts of Rajasthan were closed till January 14. Most of the schools in the state will open from today i.e. 15 January 2025 (Rajasthan School Holidays). For these, the school timing will be 10 am for now. There is an order to open all government, Anganwadi and private educational institutions in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh from January 15, 2025. However, holidays can be extended further in view of the cold wave.
Bihar Schools Closed: Schools opened in Patna, holiday extended in Ghaziabad
Holiday was announced till January 15, 2025 in all schools, Anganwadi centers and pre-schools in Patna, the capital of Bihar. At the same time, classes from 8th to 12th are being conducted from 9 am to 3.30 pm. In view of the cold wave in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the winter vacation from 1st to 8th has been extended till January 18, 2025. This order is applicable on all boards including UP Board, CBSE Board, ICSE. However, schools are open for teachers and other staff.
UP School Closed: Schools will open in Bareilly, Ballia and Etah tomorrow
Schools will open from January 16 in Ballia, Bareilly and Etah districts of Uttar Pradesh. Due to cold in these districts, holidays in schools from first to eighth standard have been extended till January 15.
UP School Closed: Holidays extended in Sambhal and Hamirpur
In view of the cold in Hamirpur and Sambhal districts of UP, the District Education Officer has extended the holidays in schools till January 16. Schools will open here on January 17.
