Anju was in her in-laws’ house at around 9 o’clock on the night of March 14 in Makrana. The accused came to the room and grabbed her hands and feet and father-in-law Ashok Kumar started strangling Anju.
Makrana: After the daughter committed suicide by hanging herself in the Makrana police station of Nagaur on Wednesday, her father has now filed a case against the in-laws for abetting her to commit suicide by harassing her for dowry.
Ramlal Swamy told in the report that his two daughters Maina and Anju were married to Kamlesh and Deepak, sons of Ashok Kumar, resident of Bansur Alwar. In December 2019, both of them were gauna. After going to the in-laws’ house, the mother-in-law Mohani Devi, Ashok Kumar, Deepika, Kamlesh and Deepak started taunting the daughters of the applicant for bringing less dowry and demanding five lakh rupees each and a Brezza car each.
When the elder daughter Maina protested, the accused started harassing Anju immensely. The accused would send her eldest daughter and her husband out of the house citing work, after which Anju would be harassed.
During this, she stayed in her in-laws’ house due to corona infection. At that time the accused harassed the daughters of the applicant a lot and demanded to bring a car and money in dowry, after which the daughters told the whole thing when they came to their maternal home.
During this, Anju was in her in-laws’ house at around 9 o’clock on the night of March 14. The accused came to the room and grabbed her hands and feet and father-in-law Ashok Kumar started strangling Anju. The accused reiterated their demand to bring a car and money to Anju as dowry and threatened to kill her and get her married to Deepak’s girlfriend if the demand was not met.
On March 25, when her daughter came home with her brother, she was shocked, after a long time she told the whole thing to the family members. On this, the applicant resolved the matter by talking to the relative, then the accused promised that such an incident would never happen in future.
At the same time, on May 10, her daughter was talking to her husband on the phone, after which her daughter Anju committed suicide by hanging herself due to harassment for dowry. Here Makrana police has started investigation by registering a case under sections 498A and 304B.
