Many types of facilities are provided to the passengers in New Delhi train by the Railway Ministry. Railways pay special attention to senior citizens. If you are a senior citizen and going out somewhere by train, then there is very good news for you.

Railways takes many steps to provide a better travel experience to its passengers. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given many important information in the Lok Sabha about the facilities available to senior citizens.

Ashwini Vaishnav said that senior citizens are getting the facility of confirmed lower berth in the train. There is a separate rule for this in Railways. Female passengers above 45 years of age will get a lower berth seat without having to select a lower berth.

Railway’s gift to pregnant women-

According to the information given by the Railways, 6 lower berths have been reserved in the sleeper category for senior citizens, women above 45 years of age and pregnant women.

Along with this, four to five lower berths have been fixed in each coach in 3 AC, three to four lower berths in each coach in 2 AC. Not only this, senior citizens, disabled people and women who have been given upper berths in the system have also been given upper berths by the onboard ticket checking staff. In such a situation, if any lower berth in the train is vacant, a rule has been made to give them the seat first.

How much discount did senior citizens get?

According to the report, men aged 60 years and above used to get 40 percent discount in fare from Indian Railways. Similarly, for women, 50 percent relaxation was given if the minimum age was 58 years. This discount was given for all classes in Mail/Express/Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Duronto group trains.
