The Agra Allahabad High Court has declared a person convicted in the rape case innocent after 20 years. Vishnu Tiwari was 23 years old when the trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment. He was convicted in the rape case. Every member of his family died in these 20 years. Eventually, Vishnu will be released from prison.
Senior Superintendent of Agra Central Jail VK Singh said, ‘Vishnu will be released soon. We are awaiting the official release order. It is unfortunate that for a crime he did not commit, he had to spend 2 decades in jail. ‘

Could not go to funeral after death of father and brothers
The trial court convicted him and sentenced him to life imprisonment. In 2003, he was sent to Agra Central Jail. In 2005, Vishnu decided to challenge the case in the High Court but the matter did not materialize. Her father died six years ago, but could not attend the funeral due to lack of parole. After that the brothers also died. Vishnu decided to appeal for mercy petition,

. Jail officials approached the State Legal Service Authority and filed an appeal in the High Court last year. On 28 January, a bench of Justices Kaushal Jayendra Thaker and Gautham Chaudhary declared him innocent.

The court found that the FIR in the case was filed after three days and there were no bruises on the private part of the woman as claimed. The court stated that there was a land dispute between the two families and the woman’s husband and father-in-law had filed a complaint and not the woman.
After being released from jail, the Dhaba
High Court acquitted Vishnu while giving the verdict. The jail superintendent said, “We expect that he will come out of jail in a few days.” After this, his plan is to open a dhaba and start a new life.
