The decision will be implemented from September 1-
The AI feature was released by the government with the sole purpose of identifying fake and spam calls and curbing them. But this plan does not seem to be working. TRAI has now said that the company from whose number fake calls are received will be held responsible for it. For example, if scammers make fake calls using Jio’s number, then Jio will be held responsible for it.
New rule on telecom companies-
If any customer reports a fake call, then it will be the responsibility of the telecom company to take immediate action on it. The government company says that if this is also done by the companies, then fake calls can be dealt with directly. TRAI has also warned the scammers. Also, customers have been asked not to target it. This is going to prove right in every respect.
TRAI in action-
TRAI did not stop here, the agency said that if any wrong information is given during calling, then it should also be kept in the category of fake. Because if this is done by anyone, then it will also be considered a violation of telecom regulation. To deal with such issues, telecom companies should immediately work on making an action plan. If a person uses the number for telemarketing after taking it, then it will also be blocked immediately. The number will be directly blacklisted for 2 years.
Government’s new series-
Earlier, a new series of numbers was also introduced by the government, which starts from 160. Actually, its purpose was also to curb financial fraud. Despite this, many users were getting promotional calls from private numbers. TRAI said that it will now monitor it itself and immediate action will be taken against those who violate the rules. Actually, its whole purpose is to stop fraud and spam calls. In such a situation, if any user is making promotional calls using a private number, then they should stop it immediately.
E-Verification was made mandatory-
Even before this, strict decisions have been taken by TRAI. TRAI had also made E-Verification mandatory for new SIM cards. That means now you will have to get E-Verification done to get a SIM. This decision was also taken with the aim of stopping fake and spam calls. However, with the decision that has been taken now, it is expected that such calls will be curbed to a great extent.
