Along with this, smart meters will be installed in homes and shops, so that consumers can keep track of each unit.

41 electricity sub-stations are operated for four lakh 25 thousand consumers. There are 231 feeders including incoming and outgoing. Power Corporation has started the work of installing smart meters on the feeders of the electricity sub-station. So far, smart meters have been installed on 10 feeders of five electricity centers.

Smart meters have also been installed at Kanshiram Engineering College, Senpur, Katehari, Asrafpur Barwan and New Tanda sub-stations. After installing meters at sub-stations, smart meters will soon be installed in transformers as well, after which the work of installing smart meters in government offices, shops and people’s homes will start.

Meters will be installed in three phases

Meter Executive Engineer Sanjay Kumar said that smart meters will be installed in three phases. In the first phase, they will be installed on the feeder of the power substation, in the second phase on the transformer and in the third phase on the consumers’ homes. The first phase campaign has started.

After the completion of the work of all three phases, the work of electricity bill meter readers going from house to house will end. Wrong billing will also be eliminated. If the meter is bypassed, the electricity will be cut off. There will also be a possibility of the chip in the meter getting blocked. In such a situation, theft will stop and there will be no possibility of wrong bills and fraud.
