Smart Meter Rules: Good news for smart prepaid meter customers. If the balance of your smart meter runs out and you are unable to recharge for some reason, then there is no need to panic. In such a situation, press the push button on the meter for 20 seconds. By doing this, you will continue to get electricity for 72 hours i.e. three days. You will get this facility only once a month. During this time you can easily recharge your meter.

Electricity even after the balance is over

This information was given by Patna District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh during an important meeting in the Collectorate auditorium on Thursday. In this meeting, he discussed important issues like power supply, smart prepaid meters and installation of these meters in government offices. During this time, he also announced a big relief related to smart meters. The DM said that this facility has not started yet but it will be started very soon. At present, when the balance is over, electricity supply remains only for 24 hours.

Now balance information will be given seven days in advance

He said that as per the new instructions of the government, now consumers will be informed a week in advance about paying the electricity bill and the end of the balance. Earlier this information was given only 24 hours in advance. He also shared an important information regarding increasing the electricity load. He said that if you want to increase the electricity load of your home or workplace, then now you will not have to pay any penalty. This exemption will be applicable for the next 6 months. During this time you can increase your electricity load without any charge.

Smart meters in all offices by November 30

The District Magistrate said that as per the instructions of the Bihar Government, smart meters will be installed in all government offices by November 30. Out of 1244 government offices in Patna district, the work of installing smart meters has been completed in 783 offices. Smart meters will be installed in the remaining 461 offices by October 31. He has instructed all the officers to ensure that this work is completed within the time limit. Apart from this, smart meters will also be installed in the houses of all officers and employees.

Some people are spreading rumors

The District Magistrate also said that he has received information that some workers who take readings of old meters are spreading false rumors about smart meters. He warned that such people will be identified and strict action will be taken against them. The DM said that ‘Electricity Dialogue’ program will be organized in all the blocks of the district. Through this program, people will be made aware about smart prepaid meters.

People will be satisfied in any case

He said that people will be satisfied by comparing the readings of the old meter and the smart meter. He also said that smart meter is a good option for a better and transparent power system. There are about 12 lakh electricity consumers in Patna district. Smart meters have been installed in 80 percent of the houses in urban areas, while this figure is 59 percent in rural areas.
