TV demand increased after lockdown
There is more demand for TV in the consumer electronic market. Its market penetration rate is around 85 percent. In such a situation, there is a lot of expectation from TV manufacturing that all the brands of the world will be involved in it. A few months after the lockdown caused by Corona in the country, there was an increase in demand for TV. After the opening of Orange and Green Zone, sales of Smart TV have been recorded. The demand for smart TV has also increased due to e-commerce. People close to their homes preferred to buy big screen smart TVs for entertainment.
Smart TV imports stopped from last year
Last year, the government had banned the import of smart TVs, which would encourage domestic smart TV manufacturing. In such a situation, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the TV sector can greatly benefit the local manufacturers. Negotiations between the government and TV manufacturers are continuing on the PLI scheme.
If the negotiations between the government and the domestic TV producer companies are not made, then the cost per unit of TV can increase by at least 2000-3000 rupees from April 1, 2021. In such a situation, the demand for TV can decrease and the economic recovery of this industry can be affected.
