Stock market closed today on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr

All the major financial markets including BSE, National Stock Exchange, Bullion, Foreign Exchange market will remain closed on Thursday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.


The domestic stock markets fell for the second consecutive day yesterday and the BSE Sensex and the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange fell by almost one per cent to a one-week low. The Sensex fell 471 points, or 0.96 per cent, to close at 48,690.80. At one point in the middle trade, it had dropped to 48,550 points. The Nifty also dropped by 154.25 points, or 1.04 per cent, to 14,696.50. This is the lower level since May 5 of both indices. Banking and financial companies as well as metals, oil and gas, energy and basic commodities groups also suffered a major decline.

A total of 3,233 companies traded on the BSE. Of these, shares of 1,586 companies rose sharply and the other 1,488 declined, while shares of the remaining 159 companies finally closed unchanged after day-long fluctuations. Nifty’s 15 out of 50 companies rose and the remaining 35 declined.
