Popular food delivery platform Swiggy is all set to give its users the option of UPI payment in the app itself. The platform has partnered with Yes Bank and Juspay for this plug-in.
Popular food delivery platform Swiggy has launched its own UPI (Unified Payments Interface) service. The advantage of this will be that users will not have to depend on other payment apps to order food. The platform believes that in case of less dependence on other apps, cases of payment failure will decrease and the checkout experience of users will improve. With this effort, Swiggy will try to compete with Zomato.
Moneycontrol’s report has revealed that the new in-app payment service has been launched by Swiggy as a plug-in. The food delivery platform has partnered with Yes Bank and Juspay for this plug-in. You may remember that Zomato is also trying something similar but instead of partnering with any other service, it itself applied for a Third Party Application Provider (TRAP) license last year.
Users will start getting benefits soon
A source related to the matter has told that Swiggy has started its new service for Closed User Group (CUG) among employees and soon it will be launched for customers in a phased manner. Swiggy has taken this step at a time when its biggest competition Zomato is also moving towards becoming a non-banking financial company (NBFC).
Ordering food will become easier
Customers have to make payments using third-party apps like Google Pay and PhonePe, which often causes problems. Especially in the case of poor network connectivity, payment often fails. In such a situation, the new option will make their work easier. All users will get the benefit of this option in a phased manner in the next few months.
