Munmun Dutta ‘Babita Ji’ Arrest: Munmun Dutta released a video on YouTube on 9 January last year and made indecent and derogatory remarks against the Scheduled Caste society, after which the complainant Rajat Kalsan filed a complaint against Munmun Dutta on 13 May 2021. A case was filed in the city Hansi under the SC ST Act.
Actress Munmun Dutta aka Babita ji, who became famous with ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, appeared before Investigating Officer DSP Vinod Shankar in a case registered against herself under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Atrocities Act registered at Hansi police station on Monday. After which the investigating officer formally arrested him and interrogated him in his office for about 4 hours. After this the accused Munmun Dutta was released on interim bail.
Outside the DSP office, there was a gathering of people eager to catch a glimpse of Munmun Dutta. Munmun Dutta himself reached the DSP office along with two security personnel and bouncers on the orders of the High Court lawyer and the High Court. Munmun Dutta did not talk to any media person during this period. The case against Munmun Dutta under the SC ST Act was filed by Rajat Kalsan, a Dalit rights activist of Hansi, on 13 May 2021.
Munmun Dutta’s petition was rejected by the special court
After this, Munmun Dutta had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to quash the case filed against him. That petition was dismissed by the Supreme Court on 22 September 2021. Munmun Dutta’s anticipatory bail petition was rejected by the special court set up under the SC-ST Act in Hisar on January 28, after which Munmun Dutta took refuge in the Punjab Haryana High Court for anticipatory bail.
High Court judge had said- to appear
On February 4, Punjab Haryana High Court judge Avnish Jhingan had asked Munmun Dutta to appear before the investigating officer in Hansi and join the investigation. Orders have been given to the investigating officer to arrest Munmun Dutta and after interrogating him, he should be released on interim bail. Apart from this, instructions were given to the investigating officer to present the investigation report before the High Court on February 25.
Yuvraj and Yuvika Chaudhary have also appeared in the case
It is worth noting that on May 9 last year, Munmun Dutta had made a derogatory remark for the Dalit society by releasing a video on YouTube, on which the Dalit rights activist Rajat Kalsan of Hansi filed a case against Munmun Dutta under the SC ST Act in the police station Hansi. Had it done. Earlier, he had filed a case against former cricketer Yuvraj Singh and film actress Yuvika Chaudhary for making derogatory remarks against Dalits. He too had to come before the Hansi police and join the investigation and the police also formally arrested him but released him on interim bail.
