The Tamil Nadu government has extended the lockdown for a week till 6 am on June 14. Relaxation in lockdown has also been announced in most of the districts. The government has announced more relaxation in restrictions in Chennai. According to the official order, the things which were already allowed in all the districts will continue. Kovid-19 is under control in many districts, although 11 districts including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai are still reporting a large number of cases. Chief Minister MK Stalin said in a statement that keeping in view the needs of the people, some relaxations have been given in these districts as well.
Standalone grocery, vegetable, meat and fish shops will be allowed between 6 am and 5 pm in all districts. Vegetables, fruits and flowers will be sold between 6 am and 5 pm on roadside pavements. Wholesale fish markets will also be allowed and the district administration will have to find alternative arrangements to set up markets at one or more open places to ensure social distancing in the markets.
Government offices will open with 30% workforce
Slaughterhouses will be allowed for wholesale trade. All government offices will be allowed with 30% workforce. Sub treasury offices will open, but can issue 50 tokens in a day for registration. Match factories can operate with 50% workforce. In view of the decline in corona cases in the rest of the state including Chennai, the government has announced additional exemptions. In these, services of private security agencies and housekeeping agencies have also been exempted along with e-registration.
Electrician, plumber also allowed
Electrician, Plumber, Motor Technician, Carpenter will be allowed with e-registration between 6 am to 5 pm. Shops selling electrical goods, bulbs, cables, switches and wires, repair of cycles and two wheelers, hardware shops, vehicle spare part shops, book and stationery shops, vehicle repair centers of vehicle distributors from 6 am Will be allowed between 5 pm. Rental cars, taxis and auto rickshaws will be allowed with e-registration. Three passengers will be allowed in hired taxis, while two passengers will be allowed in auto rickshaws.
E pass will be necessary for transport
For travel to Nilgiris, Kodaikanal, Yercaud, Yelagiri and Courtallam, e-pass will be required from the district collectors. In Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Karur, Erode, Namakkal, Trichy and Madurai districts, the import units and the seller units providing the inputs that have to place export orders can operate with 10% of the workforce following the laid down procedures. The sale of vegetables and fruits in mobile vehicles will continue. Chief Minister MK Stalin said, public should walk to nearby shops and avoid using motorbike or car.
