In how many days does it take to get an instant passport?
It usually takes 20 to 45 days to get a normal passport. In comparison, an instant passport is made in a much shorter time. But, you have to tell why you need an instant passport. For example, if you need to study, get treatment or participate in a sports event, then you can apply for an instant passport.
If your status is shown as Granted after submitting the application form, then your passport will be dispatched on the third working day. In a normal passport, police verification is done first, then the process moves forward. But, in an instant passport, the passport is already issued to you, police verification happens later. Generally, the entire process of instant passport is completed between 7 to 14 days.
How to apply for Tatkal Passport?

– Register on the official site of Passport Seva.
– You will get two options – Fresh and Re-issue. Choose Fresh.
– In the scheme type, select the Tatkal option.
– Then download the form and fill it online.
– Then make payment and print the receipt.
– Book an appointment at the nearest passport service center.
Go to the passport center on the appointment date. Your form will be submitted there and your documents will also be verified.
How much will be the fee for making Tatkal Passport?
If you get a passport made in the normal way, then your work will be done in 1500 rupees. But, for a 36-page Tatkal passport, you will have to pay a charge of 3500 rupees. If you want a 60-page Tatkal passport, then it will cost 4000 rupees. Children below 8 years of age and senior citizens get a discount of 10 percent while making a normal passport. But, there is no discount on Tatkal passport.
Which documents are required?
If you want to get an Tatkal passport, then keep some documents like Aadhar card, PAN card, birth certificate, ration card, voter ID card, driving license and bank/post office passbook with you. You will need two-three of these documents.
