TET certificate is now valid for whole life, earlier it was valid for seven years

The government has extended the validity period of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) certificate from 7 years to lifetime.



Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced on Thursday that the government has extended the validity period of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) certificate from 7 years to lifetime. This will be effective from the year 2011. In the year 2020, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), in its 50th meeting, approved to increase the duration of TET certificate from seven years to lifetime.

State government will issue new certificates

He further said that the respective State Governments/Union Territories will revalidate or issue fresh TET certificates to applicants whose seven-year period has already expired. In the NCTE guidelines dated 11 February 2011, it has been told that the TET will be conducted by the state governments. And the validity of the TET certificate was for seven years from the date of passing the TET.

Pokhriyal said that this will be a positive step in increasing job opportunities for the applicants, which will help in making a career in the field of teaching. To make a career in the primary teaching profession in India, it is mandatory to clear TET. The national level Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be conducted by CBSE and CTET certificate is required while applying for the post of teacher in primary schools. TET examinations are also conducted by more states at the state level.

At the state level, where some states have already conducted the exam. On the other hand, other states like UP and Rajasthan are waiting for the epidemic situation to recover to conduct the examination.
